Persecution on the Basis of Flying

Buffalo News matter-of-factly reports today that Buffalo-Niagara airport is getting its first of five body scanners. We are calmly informed that if passengers refuse to be scanned, they are subjected to two additional levels of persecution (a wand metal detector and physical handling). It is impossible to fly in America without being singled out and oppressed on the basis of one’s travel preference. This is persecution.  It is madness and beyond reason for everyone to be regarded as a suspected terrorist and subjected to this search. We may as well be asked to walk around with the letter J sewn into our garments.
