Parasites and Freebies

Decivilization broke out at a Burlington Coat Factory store in Columbus, Ohio when some nutcase announced to customers that she had won a lottery and would pay for everybody’s merchandise.

People flooded the registers as cashiers began ringing up purchase after purchase, but Brown had not yet paid the bill, Deakins said. At least 500 people filled the aisles and another 1,000 were outside trying to get in, he said.

She even wrote a check for one gal who begged for rent money. Of course, she had no money at all, in spite of arriving at the store in a limousine.

That’s when angry customers, realizing they weren’t getting free coats, began throwing merchandise on the floor and grabbing clothes without paying for them, Nace said.

“Everybody was like, ‘I still want my free stuff,’ and that started the riot,” he said. “It looks like (Hurricane) Katrina went through the store.”

This can only happen in a society where its people have been trained to sniff out handouts and collectively assemble to suck the gigantic nipple in the sky. This is the entitlement mentality in action. People acting like frenzied animals, being driven to rioting and looting over the smell of free merchandise. The modern entitlement era, as we know, includes the right to own a home, the right to health care, the right to have a Hummer, and the right to live beyond your means (buying useless crap with money you don’t have) and have someone else pick up the bill. Any sensible, self-sufficient individual in that store would not have believed this malarky, let alone dare to stick around in the store during the melee.
