Paper Pelosiraptor

Nancy Pelosi now wants to save the Bay Area newspapers, urging the Justice Department to allow more business operations leeway for the struggling papers.

“We must ensure that our policies enable our news organizations to survive and to engage in the news gathering and analysis that the American people expect,” she says.

As usual, politicians protect some industries and hurt others. And the “we” doing the “we must ensure” is not the consumer or the entrepreneur. It is the state.

But it’s OK –newspapers are too big/important/sacred/protected/relevant to fail.
