Cops really think they are above the law, and the situation is getting worse.  A recent story from Chicago has a cop arresting the head nurse of a hospital emergency room because she said they had to follow legal and medical protocol regarding the drawing of blood from an alleged drunk driver.

Obviously, following the law was much too complicated for the Chicago cop.

Can anyone imagine a cop doing this even 10 years ago or at least 20 years ago?  American police forces really do think of themselves as members of an occupying army and little else.
