Many people in this world believe that a Jewish man named Jesus Christ created it. I’m beginning to believe that it was created by a Jewish man named Rod Serling, because after you read this story you will know that you are living in THE TWILIGHT ZONE!!!
A deer was clinging to life because it was stuck in some ice in a river. While the bureaucRATs of government at the scene were pondering what to do in order to save the deer without getting in harm’s way themselves (which is certainly their right since it’s their lives at risk), two selfless human beings (i.e., NOT government bureaucRATs) immediately set out in their inflatable boat and eventually saved the poor deer. Aside of the personal reward that the two heroes must have felt in the satisfaction of having saved this poor creature’s life, they were given a special “reward” of a $90 fine a piece by the pondering bureaucRATs at the scene because…because…because their boat did not have the required (i.e., forced by the guns of government) personal flotation devices on their boat!!! Notice I did NOT write that they were fined because they weren’t wearing the personal flotation devices which—praise whichever of the two Jewish gentlemen mentioned above you want to—they were not required, i.e., forced to wear according to the law. They were fined simply for not having the flotation devices on board their boat.
Forgetting for a moment the libertarian principle that it is the rescuers’ lives to do what they want with them (e.g., risking their lives in order to save the deer; not having flotation devices—let along wearing them), just as it is the government bureaucRATs’ lives to do what they want to do with their lives (in this case, dillydallying over how to handle the situation), what sense does this particular law make if you’re not even required to actually wear the flotation device to protect yourself??? Is the flotation device required on the boat just for “show”? Even seat-belt laws require that not only must all cars have them, but all drivers are required to wear them (except government bureaucRATs, of course). Oy!!!
