Archbishop Demetrios, head of the Greek Orthodox Church in the United States, compared Obama to Alexander the Great, the Macedonian conquerer. The state-loving cleric meant this as praise, but while Alexander was brilliant, wasn’t he also a crazed imperialist, killer, and looter? Aristotle was his tutor, but that hardly compensates.
