Obama on World War II As a Just War

I finally got around to reading the remarks Obama made in 2009 when he accepted his Nobel Peace Prize. I note this statement:

And while it’s hard to conceive of a cause more just than the defeat of the Third Reich and the Axis powers, World War II was a conflict in which the total number of civilians who died exceeded the number of soldiers who perished.

It seems to me that no war could possibly be just when more civilians die than soldiers. Just something to think about.
