Republican Cong. Joe Barton is a corrupt and craven tool of the oligarchy, and he was defending a company with a bad political record. But I still liked it when he called the sickening scene in the White House a “$20 billion shakedown,” and said it created a “slush fund.” Of course, this is right, and the BP episode is being used to enhance the power of the regime, and therefore further wreck the economy. But the Jacobins erupted, and so Barton quickly crawled on his belly like a reptile.
UPDATE Brave Republican leaders threatened to strip Barton of his seniority if he didn’t immediately apologize for his un-PC apology. “His post, however, is still not secure.”
