No Sense of Irony Among the Neocons

Or maybe, like their blood brothers the commies, the neocons’ propaganda is made all the more oppressive by being openly hypocritical. Anyway, I laughed when I heard Procurator Bremer on the radio this morning saying that “we” cannot allow the “forces of darkness” to prevail in Iraq, because “they want to shoot their way to power.”

No Sense of Irony Among the Neocons

I know that neocons have no sense of irony (or humor, for that matter), but how can even Bill Bennett keep repeating this John Stuart Mill quote as justification for the US conquest and colonization of Iraq, without a sense that it might apply to others as well?

“War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.”
