Niall Ferguson on Economic Crises

Writes Hendrik Rood:

For the centennial of the Harvard Business School, they had a series of lectures and festivities. Their professor of history Niall Ferguson gave a very good talk focusing on the history of financial crises in the last 100 years and relying mainly on the perspectives of Austrian and Evolutionary (Schumpeterian) economics. He had some nice slides on share prices based on nominal currencies, inflation-corrected currencies, and the gold price. Ferguson’s talk starts after roughly at 9.30 minutes.

The always-interesting Ferguson is no libertarian, but I loved his Pity of War on one of the great disasters in the history of the human race, WWI.
