Next: Chasing rabbits on a mini-bike til their hearts explode?

Bill O’Reilly and Michelle Malkin did the neocon smear on Cindy Sheehan last night. Michelle Malkin channels Cindy’s late son: “I can’t imagine that Casey Sheehan would approve of such behavior.” (Just in case you are a glutton for tasteless commentary from Malkin on Sheehan, here is Grief Pimps. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.) One of these days even Republicans are going to be turned off by the crass neocons for whom nothing is sacred if it gets in the way of their endless wars.

What these commentators are missing is that Cindy Sheehan’s protest is drawing blood because Americans really are doubting the cause for which her son and so many others have died. If Cindy Sheehan’s son died defending his own city from a foreign invasion or if he died defending his family from a violent intruder then his mother’s grief and protests would be sad but trouble no one’s conscience. Her stand has bite because the invasion of Iraq was unjust and, on some level, most Americans know it. [Title thanks to Crow T. Robot]
