My October 2001 LewRockwell.com article, New Israel: A Win-Win-Win Proposal, which proposed relocating Israel to U.S. public lands such as Utah or the Anwar area of Alaska, provoked the expected accusations of anti-semitism (as well as objections from anti-semites). Since then I’ve noticed a few similar or related proposals:
- How ‘Bout Relocating Israel to Mexico?, by Ken Layne, FoxNews (April 2, 2002);
- “Fight World War IV” – Or Let Israelis Immigrate?, by Paul Craig Roberts, VDARE (Sept. 24, 2002) (“Terminate the Middle Eastern conflict by inviting the 5 million Jews in Israel to settle in the U.S.”);
- Israel’s end-times gamble, by Gary DeMar, WorldNetDaily.com (September 14, 2002) (Jews should leave Israel–perhaps come to America–because of biblical prophecies about the inevitability of a mass-slaughter of Israeli Jews coming, presaging WWIII);
- New Exodus: Let Jews leave Europe for America, by Ronald Bailey, ReasonOnline (April 2, 2003) (arguing that, due to “the resurgence of European anti-Semitism,” America should open our doors to any “any European Jew who fears anti-Semitic persecution”).
Now, with mixed emotion, I note that the Iranian President has a similar proposal: Iran’s Ahmadinejad says Israel should be moved to Europe (December 8, 2005).
