Neocon Instructions: ‘Don’t Read Rothbard!’

Writes Steven Ng:

While I was going for my masters degree, I attended Acton University. At the first session, someone asked about Rothbard. We got the “Don’t Read Rothbard!” response. We were told that his ideas in Ethics of Liberty were totally wrong and referenced a chapter. I thought, “That doesn’t sound like Rothbard.”

You’re right about checking this stuff almost instantly. After the session I went back to my hotel room, pulled out my notebook computer, downloaded the PDF of Ethics of Liberty, read the chapter, and found that the lecturer didn’t know what he was talking about.
