Iran threatens each and every one of you. This is a serious threat. It is unusual and extraordinary. It requires emergency measures. It is threatening the American economy. It threatens foreign policy and national security. How do I know? Because William J. Clinton said so and because every president since has said so:
“I, William J. Clinton, President of the United States of America, find that the actions and policies of the Government of Iran constitute an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States, and hereby declare a national emergency to deal with that threat.”
Americans should be congratulated for withstanding these threats for the past 17 years straight. I am reminded of the Brits who withstood the V-1 and V-2 attacks and other bombardments. Congratulations! You shall go down in history for your courage and capacity to produce and consume in the face of these incessant, unusual, and extraordinary threats.
Obama has not shrunk from his duty either, and of course neither has the Congress. While he isn’t busy “leading” us all and keeping the peace, for which we should all be grateful and vote him in again, he declared a new executive order. This one rests on even more “emergency authority” than earlier ones. He knows how to strangle any American or any American company that does business with Iran. Sanction them and penalize them. Hit them financially where it hurts.
Where is Iran, anyway, and what has it done to us??6:26 am on October 15, 2012 Email Michael S. Rozeff
