It’s now eight days since LRC broke the story about Obama’s totalEATarianism: his belief that, to save the planet from global warming, the federal government needs to make sure that Americans don’t “eat all we want.”
Sadly, this story shows that, for now, the MSM still dominates public opinion. There are only fifty minor mentions of the story on Google News (the MSM), while a Google blog search come up with 1,122!
I have stated that global warming could be a sleeper issue this year. Now, that issue belongs solely to Bob Barr, if he chooses to use it.
He is up against three candidates who believe in federal legislation to reduce global warming. Since everything, according to the theory, affects global warming, this view is explicitly totalitarian. Hence, Obama’s logical extension of it to regulating how much we eat.
Since only 40% of Americans are global warming fanatics, and most of them are Democrats, this creates the mother of all wedge issues for undercutting McCain’s base and fast.
