More on the Sunny Side of the Housing Market Bust

The homeowners’ association for my townhouse in South Florida took bids on painting the exterior of the buildings last summer, the lowest of which was $97,000.  After reading a February article in the Washington Post about the depression in the home building industry  the president of the HOA solicited a new round of bids.  The painting job was completed in April — for $37,000.
