My LRC article of yesterday – “The Siege of San Francisco” – concerning a Navy “Blue Angels” Sunday assault on the peace and quiet of Bay area residents, elicited this response from a reader:
“I fully empathize with your recent experience. Downtown Detroit is unfortunately on the flight path for flying monstrosities from Selfridge ANG base, and we were subject to this same sort of ‘entertainment’ earlier this summer, with jets flying over high density residential areas for the better part of two hours. In addition, the serene setting of the Detroit International Jazz Festival has been disrupted for the last two years by more of these obscene flyovers. The contrast between thousands of peaceful people of all ages and colors listening to wonderful sets of music (all for free thanks to generous corporate donors) could not be in sharper contrast to the obscenely loud, threatening (not to mention expensive) flyovers being put on by Leviathan. They simply do what they wish without regard for the lives of ordinary people.
“One more ominous note – at this summer’s annual hydroplane races (with yet another annoying flyover), one of the sponsoring entities was none other than the U.S. Navy, which of course, essentially ensured that we all be subject to the damn noise of these flying death machines.”
