Last week, the Republican Congress reauthorized the Women, Infants, and Children(WIC) nutrition program, the school lunch program,and various other Great Society-era welfare programs.

Buried in the welfare was a new federal mandate forcing local schools to “combat child obesity and improve child nutrition” because (in the words of the House Republicans’ press release:)

“With childhood obesity reaching an epidemic proportion among America’s youth, it is clear that Congress must act to increase the focus on comprehensive solutions that incorporate healthy habits, nutritional education, and increased physical activity with ongoing efforts to combat hunger and food insecurity.”

Does anyone still believe DC-Republicians have any interest in limiting government?
