Lew:   Perhaps the ultimate expression of this sort of nonsense is to be found in that wonderful 1959 film I’m All Right Jack. Peter Sellers plays the union steward at a factory.  He storms into the plant manager’s office and, in the most self-righteous tone, declares: “we do not and cannot accept the principle that incompetence justifies dismissal.”
