Michigan

Ron Paul got 10% in Iowa and 8% in New Hampshire. Right now, Ron Paul has 6% in Michigan. Does the campaign need major change?

Mitt Romney is not going to beat Hillary so we need not worry about what a horrible president he would make–but he really would be bad. He won Michigan by promising to spend $20 billion on pork for the auto industry. He promised a trade war with China, nice! He advocated economic fascism, the old partnership among government, business and labor. He promised tax cuts but specified no spending cuts, quite the contrary. He’s the Slick Willie of the Republican Party. He will say anything to get elected.

There is good news: Rudy suffered another humiliating defeat, not excused by his absence. He didn’t lose because he was absent; he was absent because he knew he would lose.

The media is another loser. These cheerleaders for the status quo say that Rudy and Fred, whom Ron Paul beat tonight, are “contenders” but Ron Paul is not. They are just nuts!

Moving in the other direction, Huckster self-destructed by promising to re-write the constitution to suit his own religion; McCain showed a stunning ignorance of economics and Romney was just, well, Romney-like and that’s pretty horrendous.

It’s still early and no one has an appreciable lead in delegates. My thought for the night is my old standby–“a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.”
