Mexican Workers Continued….

I would like to echo Ryan’s post. My father-in-law, who is in the granite business in Elberton, Georgia, has dealt with Mexican workers for many years, and he makes the same points that Ryan made.

Furthermore, my father-in-law was not working off the books with these workers. They were regular employees who worked very well, were reliable, and did quality work.

Although I can understand the anti-immigration arguments, let me also say that the latest House bill is an abomination. For one, the idea that the USA can build an effective fence over the entire Mexico-USA border is laughable, given the terrain. This project would have to rival the Great Wall of China, and right now, we do not have the resources to do it.

Moreover, the bill is full of criminal penalties. Yes, when faced with a problem, the Republicans give us their standard answer: throw more people into prison. Employers, workers, whoever, it is prison, prison, prison, and for what?
