Media Mouthpieces Defend the System

Lew and Karen: What else can we expect from members of the mainstream media, whose functions are to present, to a gullible public, the political system in the most favorable light? Would we expect a college football cheerleader to tell us that her team played in a game whose outcome was rigged?

I am amused by the cable “news” babblers who insist upon separating Obama from the corruption in Illinois politics; who want us to know that the present governor’s activities were an aberration of which the president-elect had no knowledge. Obama may not have had any involvement in the governor’s alleged improprieties, but how on earth could anyone as steeped in Chicago politics as the new president is, pretend to be unaware of the boundless nature of the political corruption that has long defined that city? And if he is truly unaware of the institutionalized improprieties of his own city, what does this tell us about his qualifications to identify and address problems in a much wider and more complex world?
