Reading this left-wing, hate-filled rant on AlterNet, you’ll come away having been told that if you believe in limited government, live the country life far away from the crowds and riffraff, and own guns, you are thereby said to be paranoid, racist, and full of right-wing hate.
The author tries to weave two vastly different articles in one piece, here, as she (he?) tries to associate independent people who take the time to learn to defend themselves with fascist, white supremacist groups. The first half of the story (A) is about white people who move away from the city and suburbs because they want to live in a less populated area. They are said to be racist and paranoid, and they buy guns and ammo because they are “right-wing” wackos. The second half of the story (B) talks about fascist groups like the White Aryan Resistance and Hammerskin Nation. The point here is guilt by association. Not because the folks in (A) have anything whatsoever to do with the folks in (B), but because the author tries to cleverly associate the two groups and convey that peaceful people who own guns and want to live unemcumbered by the crap in the cities are somehow associated with the same thought that drives sometimes violent fascist groups.
The bland, overused terms that are invoked here – extremist, racist, right-wing, paranoid – show how unoriginal, unsophisticated, and functionally retarded these non-thinking leftists are when they attack peaceful people who just want to live quiet lives, take care of themselves, and be left alone (which is a crime in the Diversity Era, by the way).
