Leftists Still Nauseate

Just when you start thinking the left might be a bit better than the right, that there is some glimmer of human decency in them–they are anti-war, somewhat, aren’t they?–they remind you of why they are hated and why the right occasionally gains a toehold among libertarians. Witness this scin-crawling, disgusting, evil piece by one Robert L. “Borosage,” Co-Director of the “Campaign for America’s Future [sic]”: “Taxing Matters,” writing on the increasingly execrable Huffington Post. He writes:

Tax Day. Fox News is flogging Astroturf “tea parties” underwritten by corporate lobbyists, while its pundits warn that raising the top income tax rate to the level it was under Bill Clinton constitutes “socialism.” The Wall Street Journal editorializes about the evils of the estate tax. Ari Fleischer is trotted out to complain that “redistribution of income” through the tax code “is getting out of hand.” Really? Here’s the grim reality: Since 1980, when the conservative era began, inequality has reached Gilded Age extremes – while top end tax rates have been cut. The wealthiest few captured ever more of the nation’s income while successfully lowering their tax rates.

Note the dishonesty dripping from this passage. E.g.: “Fox News is flogging Astroturf “tea parties” underwritten by corporate lobbyists” — as if no mere individual citizen could sincerely be against being raped and robbed. It’s only because he’s a pawn of “corporations.” Or: “The wealthiest few captured ever more of the nation’s income while successfully lowering their tax rates.” Captured–captured! The placement of this word is too intentionally clever and evil to be the mistake of an economic illiterate bubblehead (the typical leftist writer for HuffPo). No, he subtly casts “income” as something unowned, out there, up for “capturing”–by those “pirate-like” … entrepreneurs! Better to let God Obama capture it for you!

Let this be a lesson for those flirting with the noxious idea that we can find allies among the left. We cannot. They are evil to the core (as is the right, in its own unique way). We are neither left nor right.

Update: Scott Horton’s post Anthony Gretgory versus the Right, Stephan Kinsella versus the Left, referring to this post and Gregory’s article, concludes, “They’re both correct.” Of course. I sometimes view us as guarding the rear of a wagon train rushing across the wilderness, being traced by a hoard of frothing, hungry wolves. I shout over at my armed colleague Gregory, “You shoot the ones on the right–I’ll take the ones on the left!”
