In response to my “Jefferson on the Evils of War,” a veteran who supports Bush’s crusade against evil wrote (I have tried to correct his many misspellings):
You left-wing liberal jerks do not understand that there is “evil” in this world. Hitler was evil. Sadam is evil and so is Bin Laden. Don’t you idiots believe we are in a war and we have to defeat evil. Of course the left wing liberal agenda is to socialize America. Go to Cuba and see what their socialist/communist regime has accomplished there. Go to the eastern European countries and see what the socialists/communists have accomplished there, also. America does not need the left-wing liberal media spouting lies and falsehoods like Dan Rather’s “memo” that accused President Bush of being awol and getting special treatment. I did not see patriotic Danny boy questioning that left-wing liberal icon Bill Clinton who stated that he loathed the military. Your attack on Hannity is just as idiotic and mindless as all other left wing liberal drivel. ______, USN veteran. Oh by the way, are you a veteran or just a girlie-boy?
He also informed me about his family and gave me a history lesson:
My oldest son already served in the Navy. My youngest will graduate from college this year and is going to join the Marines. I am not a warmonger. Evil must be confronted and defeated and President Bush has the guts to see this. Did you ever hear of Neville Chamberlain? He promised peace by placating Hitler. If I recall history correctly, giving in to Hitler’s demands did not work and neither will running from a war that was started by Bin Laden and the tyrant from Iraq.
How can anyone who reads LRC for just one week be such an apologist for Bush, Hannity, and the warfare state? Face it veterans, the state has lied to you and used you. To die for Bush and the U.S. empire is not a noble deed, it is a tragic waste of life.
