Learn What You’re Not Supposed To Know About War . . .

. . . by taking my Mises Academy online course, “The Political Economy of War,” starting on September 21.  Austrian economists and other classical liberals have been writing about the causes and effects of war on society for generations.   During this ten-week online course we will discuss the scholarship on the subject by Ludwig von Mises, Frederic Bastiat, Murray Rothbard, Lionel Robbins, Randolph Bourne, Robert Higgs, William Graham Sumner, Milton Friedman, Hans-Hermann Hoppe, and others.

Among the topics to be covered will be the economic causes of war; why war is the very opposite of capitalism; why Marx was wrong about imperialism (and just about everything else); why conservatives who advocate limited government delude and contradict themselves by being war supporters; the dangers of nationalism; the differences between conscription and a volunteer army; how war is destructive of a nation’s economy; how the state hides the costs of war; the evil of pro-war intellectuals with hidden agendas; and the myth that democracy promotes peace, among other things.
