Laughing at the State

Lew: This is one of the reasons I so miss the late George Carlin. If I could bring back just one person from the beyond – other than relatives and close friends – it would be George. He was what I referred to as a “stand-up philosopher.” Regarding politics, he declared “I never believe anything the government tells me,” and would go on to illustrate his point.

Each of us needs to inject more humor into our critiques of the state. What is more absurd than the proposition that a god-king – of whichever party – can bring a country to order by his own will?
