Karen, in reading your post and then the linked article, I really am stunned. Larry Kudlow is like a parrot who only squawks one line: “Awk, print money, print more money! Awk, print money, print more money!”

And he even gets Milton Friedman wrong (who already was wrong in the first place). Friedman did NOT say that if government “pours on the money,” then the “economy will expand.” Indeed, in Free to Choose, Friedman says that trying to inflate during a downturn is akin to the “hair of the dog cure” for a hangover. (And Friedman did not even subscribe to the “Austrian Hangover Theory,” but, then Austrians don’t subscribe to that caricature by Paul Krugman, either.)

Government is not putting in “mustard seeds” into the economy. Rather, it is throwing one bomb after another, destroying wealth, and then making sure that new wealth cannot be produced.
