It’s the American, welfare state way, of course, to be entitled to everything, especially a job and benefits. This man is suing Borders Group, Inc. because he wasn’t given adequate warning before losing his job prior to the financially insolvent company going into liquidation. Jared Pinkser is suing under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act that requires companies to give a 60-day notice prior to mass layoffs in a bankruptcy filing (not liquidation). He hopes it is the start of a successful class action lawsuit. What a guy. Borders Group Inc. was in obvious trouble long before the liquidation, and it was well publicized for the prior 3-4 years. Mr. Pinkser, it seems to me, was rather comfortable in his job and he was negligent about seeing the obvious because that meant he would have to be proactive about seeking new work and making changes in his life. Certainly, entitled people should never have to move out of their comfort zone to be responsible for themselves and their future.
