It’s Still a Mystery

For all their failings otherwise, the intellectuals and pundits that gave us the Great War and World War II were men with education, substance, and gravitas. And the Nat Rev crowd that cheered the Cold War, for all their confusions and compromises with leviathan, were serious people who read, thought, and understood the responsibilities that come with being public intellectuals. Now consider the the current generation of warmongering punks who have given us the fiascos in Iraq and Afghanistan, and who back the Bush regime in the name of conservatism. Imagine giving over the nation’s future to this bunch–faces no father would trust with the car keys or credit card.
