Ron Paul and Ayn Rand, and Objectivists taking up yoga. What does this have to do with anything? It seems that the yoga sports apparel store Lululemon - based in Canada – has “severely alienated its core constituency” by printing the phrase “Who Is John Galt?” on its bags. Chip Wilson, the founder of Lululemon, is a fan of Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged. Here is an NPR interview with Globe and Mail reporter Simon Houpt.
These bags are controversial because the John Galt bags signify self-interest, and followers of yoga say this is contrary to the teachings of yoga. I love the part where the NPR interviewer states that the two story topics that get him the most response are: anything on Ayn Rand or any interview with Ron Paul.
