Is Trying to Disarm a Cop a Capital Offense?

It wasn’t for the late San Diego resident Sagon Penn, who not only disarmed one cop but fatally shot another in a desperate act of self-defense. Two (predominantly white) juries acquitted the young black man of the most serious charges, and a resentful but weary prosecutor eventually dismissed the case. Several former San Diego PD officers offered testimony on behalf of Penn. One of them was the target of an attempted assassination in his home; that case remains unsolved. Obviously, Penn didn’t benefit from “Blue Privilege,” which is also nullified for honest police officers who cross the Blue Line. Read the rest of the story here.
