Is the State Joining the Homeless?

While driving through a busy Los Angeles intersection this morning – a location at which I would usually find members of the homeless guild with their styrofoam cups – I saw a parked city fire truck, with firemen going car-to-car begging for money. Is this an omen? As airlines, banks, and investment houses run to the feds for billions of dollars in alms, shall we soon be witness to postal employees, DMV clerks, and city librarians stationed at major intersections and grocery stores with their hand-made signs of supplication?

Has the system deteriorated to the place where it is no longer beneficial even to those who have helped to bring it down?
