Is the Garrison State Inevitable?

As Justin Raimondo says, the British and US states will use this latest bombing to “tighten security,” that is, to spy on and control the people to an even greater extent. But taking off your shoes to enter the subway, or whatever other humiliating and ineffective nonsense they impose, will not and cannot provide real security.

But can the pols get away with it? Does this horrific act mean that all Englishmen and Americans will agree to be slaves of the state in return for being groped more often?

At some point, the English-speaking peoples will copy the Spanish. We will say: find and punish the perpetrators, with small, secret teams–not bombing Muslim innocents–and get out of Iraq.

As a first step, negotiate a truce with the guerillas to get all our men out safely. That will be the first step on a long but urgent journey away from the monster of empire, and towards the Jeffersonianism that still is the real America.
