Is California’s Proposition 8 Constitutional?

The Supreme Court heard arguments today as to whether California’s Proposition 8, banning same-sex marriage, is constitutional. Is it? Of course it is. And it doesn’t matter how one feels about same-sex marriage. To say that California or any other state cannot ban same-sex marriage is to reject the Constitution, federalism, and our whole system of government. The states did not give up their sovereignty when they united under the Constitution. It was forcibly taken from them by the so-called Civil War.
