The arrest of that 18-year old for a rap prompted a comment that led me to the above question. That response follows:
“I am 53 and went to gov’t schools in Allendale, NJ just outside NYC. It was apparently in a different time and a different country. My teachers emphasized that free speech protection extended even to the point of the colonialists hanging the king in effigy. Try that today and the SWAT NAZIs will likely kill you with their batons after their taser batteries are depleted from tormenting you. I think most people my age remembered that lesson as they learned that funny word ‘effigy’ for the first time.”
