In Poland

After an exhausting but exhilarating 1,000-mile speaking trip (.pdf) through Poland, I’m happy to report (from a Warsaw hotel lobby) not only that my message was well received, but also that young people here follow the good guys very closely. Three proper names — Lew Rockwell, Hans Hoppe, and Walter Block — came up in the question session after my first lecture. One student passed me a note saying, “The Mises Institute saved me from socialism. Thank you very much.”

And I was repeatedly asked about Ron Paul.

I spoke mainly but not exclusively about the Polish translation of The Church and the Market. Even before the theological faculties of Catholic universities the message was surprisingly well received, and objections were raised in a spirit of courtesy and civility. I did four interviews with Polish media — and again, nothing but friendliness. I’m sure things can get nasty here, too, but none of it came my way.
