One of the troubles with typical DC orgs: if they seek to influence State officials, and get them to their cocktail parties for their Donor and donors to influence peddle, you cannot say or do anything that risks outraging the officials. Indeed, you need to defend them. Liberals, conservatives, “libertarians”: this is a fact of life in the Beltway. Or maybe we should rename it the Weltway, for State officials’ abuse of commoners.
