I Thought All Germans Who Fought in WWII Were Evil?

Not Franz Stigler, who did not shoot down an American plane when he had the chance. He and the American pilot, Charlie Brown, met in 1990 and became good friends. It was the evil German and American governments that wanted Germans and Americans to hate and kill each other. War is the health of the state, any state. And here is another account of a German solider.

After writing this I was informed that the incident is on Wikipedia. When Brown landed and told what had happened, he was told “not to repeat this to the rest of the unit so as not to build any positive sentiment about enemy pilots.”
