I Love Ads

Marshall McLuhan told the story of the Roosevelt administration asking magazine publishers to print up special editions for the troops overseas, minus the ads. There was a huge uproar when the truncated versions arrived, since no one was interested in Life or Look or the New Yorker without its best part, and the commie New Dealers had to back down. When I see TV nowadays, which isn’t often, I am always struck by just how good the ads are. Here’s a terrific example from Nike featuring Lance Armstrong. (Link courtesy of Karen De Coster)
