I Killed People in Afghanistan

Not me, but Timothy Kudo did. He deployed to Iraq in 2009 and to Afghanistan from 2010 to 2011. I am not accusing him of killing people. He says he did in this opinion piece in the Washington Post: “I Killed People in Afghanistan. Was I Right or Wrong?” He says he thinks about the people he killed every day. “To properly wage war, you have to recalibrate your moral compass. Once you return from the battlefield, it is difficult or impossible to repair it,” says Kudo. But he is confused about the morality of his actions: “I will never know whether my actions in Afghanistan were right or wrong. On good days, I believe they were necessary. But instead, I want to believe that killing, even in war, is wrong.”

Let me help you Mr. Kudo: your actions were wrong. And not only wrong, soldiers who kill in unjust wars are murderers. Soldiers who realize this and refuse to continue are the real heroes.
