How bad can it get?

Here is an NRO writer who says, heck, it’s just great the government should collect information on everyone, put together a list of people who can’t fly, and run screening tests at airports–and Total Information Awareness is wonderful too–and how dare the privocrats and liberty obsessives complain about these essential national-security measures. How dare people question the untrammeled power of the almighty state?

You know, at some point you have to ask yourself: why did you ever think you had anything in common with these people who now so effortlessly defend totalitarianism?
