Heightened Anxiety and Social Hysteria in America

When a shovel is mistaken for an axe and when no adult has the presence of mind to deal with that fact, resulting in a school lockdown, it would appear that the people involved are living in a state of nightmare in which ordinary social life is bent greatly out of shape or even lacking all suitable definition of form. The resulting condition of instability in what should be definite objects and social relations manifests anxiety and causes anxiety.

I wonder how pervasive this condition is across America. Certainly there is video after video of police behaving as if they were subject to incredible anxieties in doing their jobs, and in which perfectly harmless people that they meet are transformed in their eyes into dangerous creatures ready to attack them and everyone else. Far from providing a calming influence, the police are afflicted with anxiety and cause anxiety, not to mention excessive violence.

There is a video on youtube of a bewildered parent whose youngster was diagnosed with ADHD who looks like a perfectly normal boy in home video. However, this boy was handcuffed at school, removed from school to a psychiatric facility, and a notation of battery made on his “record” when, at school, he was approached by a policeman whom he didn’t want to talk to. He brushed away the policeman’s arm when the latter touched him, which is a perfectly normal reaction. The anxiety level of both must surely have been high, and that of the school superiors who brought about this confrontation.

All of this is evidence of a widespread social hysteria. Its causes? Well certainly the government and its lapdog media are one very serious cause.
