Health Protection, Government Style

A state-run water park in Albany, New York, has been shut down after it was found that the water contained bacterial causing waterborne diseases. I find this ironic because New York is one of the most anti-private enterprise states in the country, and has been a “leader” in promoting the health and safety features of government-run enterprises.

My guess is that if the park had been private, Elliot Spitzer (a.k.a., Mr. Evil) would be launching a criminal investigation. He may yet, but only if he comes to believe that going after state officials is politically feasible.

By the way, I took my children to a private water park in Altoona, Pennsylvania, recently. None of us got sick.
