Hagel and Vietnam

I always see former Senator Chuck Hagel described as a decorated Vietnam War veteran. Reminds me of this quote from Emmanuel Charles McCarthy: “Murder decorated with a ribbon is still murder.”

I am reading Nick Turse’s new book, Kill Anything that Moves: The Real American War in Vietnam. The whole war was one murderous My Lai incident, with lots of rape, torture, and mutilation thrown in. Hagel should be ashamed to be a decorated Vietnam war veteran.
