Government vs. Cheap, Healthy Food

Ever since Herbert Hoover, the federal government has been damaging the market for food, making it more expensive and more dangerous, and diverting its production into the hands of the plutocracy, which gets vast subsidies. American agriculture is corporatist. Raw milk is persecuted, as are genuinely organic products. And in recent years, federally designed corn price increases, through ethanol subsidies, have brought malnutrition to many poor nations, as have other programs like patented seeds. Indeed, there is a world food crisis getting worse and worse. But the problems can be fixed almost overnight. To discuss all this and more, join Tom DiLorenzo, Doug French, Bob Higgs, Bob Murphy, and Yuri Maltsev for the Indianapolis Mises Circle on May 14, 2011. Student scholarships are available. Here are all the details. Oh, and the famous Mises Traveling Bookstore will be there as well. So should you.
