Government Grants, Government Strings

A legal writer was lamenting in a Christian publication that Obama’s Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships has issued new guidelines that “make it harder, perhaps even impossible, for Christian nonprofit organizations to provide community or social services with government grant money and still maintain their programs of evangelism, worship, or Bible teaching.”

Never asked was what are Christian organizations doing taking government money in the first place. Never asked was is such a government office constitutional. If I was a betting man, I bet that this writer never once criticized Bush’s faith-based office that he set up. And judging from what he has said about war, he probably never criticized anything Bush ever did.
