On July 30, 2000 Dick Cheney appeared on “Meet the Press” and said that we needed “more price stability” in energy markets and a “national energy policy.” By “price stability” he meant “higher gas prices” and by “national energy policy” he meant “energy socialism and central planning.” He got his wish with the invasion of Iraq.
