Goodbye Burt

The last conversation I had with Burt he told me that he thought he picked a good time to retire. As he put it, “I told everyone what to do, they didn’t listen, so to heck with them!” Right! Heck with every moron who failed to listen to Burt!

I don’t know what I can add to everything that has already been said, except that, as one of the many libertarians who benefited from Burt’s kindnesses and friendship, I am grateful for having the opportunity to have called him my friend.

Today, I feel espcially sorry for the “newbies” who have come into the libertarian movement over the last few years (many through the campaign of Burt’s close friend Ron Paul–among his other accomplishments, Burt was a founding father of the rEVOLUtion) who will never have the chance to benefit form Burt’s humor, generosity, and wisdom. Burt set a standard of personal and professional conduct that all of us should aspire to, but few of us can ever hope to acheive.

Goodbye Burt, and thank you.
