Giving Politics the Attention It Deserves

Karen:   I am certain that the voters of Florissant, Colorado, have as much pride in Paco Bell, the donkey they elected as mayor of their town a few years back, as do the electorate of Rabbit Hash, Kentucky.  What is so trustworthy in such office-holders is that neither sought the jobs;  they are genuinely loved by the voters; and can be expected to do no harm to the local citizenry.   This is certainly a better arrangement than having a mayoral election in a southern town, in which one boll weevil was pitted against another boll weevil.  The voters had to settle for one candidate over the other because he was regarded as “the lesser of two weevils.”
